A year ago, I was writing about the disintegrating relationship between MSU basketball star Brittany Pittman and her coach, Mike Bradbury. How the times have changed.

Pittman left the team after her junior year, a season in which she set a Division I record for blocks with 164. Bradbury recently moved on to bigger and better things, taking a job at Wright State.

It looked for a while as if Pittman's promising career had ended before really getting started.
All that changed Saturday.

Pittman was accepted after trying out for the Lexington Lightning, a team affiliated with the Women's Blue Chip Basketball League.
The WBCBL is a confederation of 57 semi-pro teams throughout the country. The league is divided into 10 Regions. Lexington will play in the Northeast Region, along with teams from Toronto, Columbus, Cleveland, Detroit and Flint, Mich.

The WBCBL describes itself as an opportunity for players to prove their skills in game situations. According to the league's website, WBCBL.com, the league works closely with a network of agents in order to find athletes future playing opportunities, in America and overseas.

Pittman said the tryout was a nerve-wracking experience but she is excited for her return to the court.

"I'm just going to work hard, because if you do you get rewarded for it," Pittman said.

Pittman said her ultimate goal is to play in the WNBA, but she is happy just to have the opportunity to play basketball again.

Congratulations Brittany, and I wish you the best in continuing to follow your dream.
